Mike Ritter Sr. moose Mike Ritter of Indiana came back with a rifle for this moose after not being able to get close enough last year to a 74 incher with his bow. The big guy just walked out into the middle of a field a stood there, daring Mike to give it a try. This 63 incher was kind enough to be near a river so the pack out wasn't so bad. The hardest part was getting the life size cape (400 plus pounds) back to the boat. Mike's son live mounted it for him with his brown bear attacking it.
Troy Hicks moose Troy Hicks hails from Minnesota and decide he wanted to come to the Alaska Peninsula for his moose. He went home with this nice bull. When the quick field measurement was done he came out to 63 inches, but when Troy took it to his taxidermist they told him it was 65" Troy was real pleased to get those extra two inches. Before Troy managed to get his moose knocked down a real nice wolf.
  swimming moose

This Bull Moose is swimming across the lake right in front of the main camp. Yes, he and the cow he was with kept swimming and walked out on the other side of the lake and disappeared into the brush.

Don Glover moose Don Glover of New York with his moose. Don was real happy to get this guy on the Alaska Peninsula and happily enjoyed the rest of his time with us while waiting for a friend to fill out. Don's guide was Rodney Weaver.
  Adam Grunwald moose

Adam Grunwald

"Adam came all the way from Austria for the moose he has wanted most of his life"

  Butch Zens mooose
Butch Zens brought his wife, Wendy, with him on this moose hunt. Butch and I had an enjoyable time spotting moose and were real pleased to find this one while we were walking back to the boat.
Butch dropped it less than 400 yards from the lake shore. This moose may not look big, but this man is 6’5” tall!! Butch kept teasing Wendy by telling her it was “Oh, 52”, 53” when it really measured out to 67 inches wide. Quite a trophy to take back home to New Mexico.

  Arrends

Mike Arrends got his 62” moose on the fourth day of his hunt while being guided by Jon Nicohols.
Larry Jarrett moose

“Hunting moose with Gus Lamoureux at his Ugashik Lake camp was a true wilderness experience. My guide put me within 200 yards of a 70” moose, after spotting him nearly a mile away. Having placed a lung shot in the animal and then having him charge out of the bush toward me, was perhaps the biggest adrenaline rush I have ever experienced. After packing the moose meat to camp Gary (my guide) treated me to silver salmon fishing. We enjoyed moose and salmon for the evening meal. I can only relate to this as good living. I would recommend Gus Lamoureux for the finest hunting and accommodations Alaska has to offer.”

Moose hunts are conducted from our Ugashik camp on the Alaska Peninsula. Moose hunting has been very good. Our first day in 2003 brought down a 70” bull. In 2004 we had a 62” and a 67” down before the fifth day of the hunt, which maintains our 64” average. Several other large ones were spotted; even the camp cook saw one on the far side of the main camp lake that was in excess of 70”. In 2005 every moose that went home was 63" or better.

These hunts include all meals and lodging with your guide one on one. The hunting license and moose tag fee are extra. Our moose season is from September 10th through the 20th and our hunt fully encompasses this season, you get eleven full days of hunting. A moose hunt can be hard work, but we do our best to put you in a proven, prime harvest area. We hire experienced guides that are fully capable in the areas of trophy estimation and field care.
