My father, Frenchy Lamoureux, began guiding in Alaska before it attained statehood and continued to do so until shortly before his death in 1991. He began teaching me about Alaska, it's fish and animals when he took me on a float trip down the Talchulitna River when I was five. He guided me on my first Kodiak Brown Bear hunt when I was nine, first Dall Sheep when I was eleven. I got my first moose when I was fourteen. I still guide in the same area of Kodiak Island and the Alaska Peninsula that he did. I know the areas very well but find that there is always more to learn about the lay of the land and the way the animals behave.
